A Hard Lesson

  1. The problem is micromanagement. What Patton said is correct, and he was a manager (not a "micromanager") telling his guys how to manage themselves. But when people who have neither a military nor business nor industrial track record try to totally manage combat (micro-managing day-to-day stuff, rules of engagement, plus being nice-guy to the nasties) then we get disasters like Vietnam, Iran rescue, the last 5 years of Afghanistan & Iraq, Benghazi, etc.
